RAVENOUS means ALWAYS BEING HUNGRY TO MAKE, SEE, DO, FEEL, AND TASTE WHAT THE WORLD HAS TO OFFER. IT'S ABOUT GOING OUTSIDE OF ONE'S COMFORT ZONE TO LEARN, ADAPT AND FORGE GREATER UNDERSTANDING. it's about rejecting complacency and satiation and choosing challenge over ease in order to grow.
The Ravenous Craft coven was first created as a way to reconnect with making things with our own hands and to develop our innate creativity. because we live in a predominantly service based economy, many of us lack the fulfillment of creating things from scratch and we hungered to bring back craft into our lives while at the same time supporting the earth and not creating more items to go into landfills.
Nature
Connecting with nature in its purest forms is one of the best ways to live a harmonious life. By foraging and gathering natural elements to put into your crafts, you're benefiting yourself, the earth, and humanity. For the elements you cannot make or find yourself, choose small batch producers who are sourcing responsibly.
Cooking
This nearly goes without saying - cooking and eating with the seasons, Scavenging and Foraging Abundant species and supporting local farmers is of utmost importance. Choosing the real and the quality over the cheap and mass produced is one of the most basic ways to change things for the better. ANd learning how to cook your own food, knowing all of the elements within connects you more deeply with it as a source of nourishment.
DIY
Because we live in a capitalistic society, one of the strongest forces for change is buying power- opting out of a system the promotes deforestation, child labor and environmental destruction and instead choosing to support small, local producers will save our society from the ground up. Making things yourself not only gives you the skills to be self-sufficient, but it also is the surest way of knowing where each of the elements that were used to make it came from.
CRAFT COVEN
Every full moon we gather, cook, craft, and engage in ritual. Bonding in this way creates a network of support and insures that there is always time for celebrating nature's abundance in every season. The full moon is a time of heightened senses, emotions, and connection with the earth, plants and animals. Making things with our own hands and learning new skills and trades promotes self sufficiency and helps feed the soul in a way that few other things can.
Choosing sisterhood and kinship, celebrating and empowering others' strengths over jealousy and ill will is productive and strengthening. Find your crew, your coven, your wolfpack, with similar ideals and values and be supportive of one another.
